How the tower works.

Every floor is a startup. Floors are ranked by what each startup has paid in total, and the top floor wears the crown. Beat the holder by $1 and it's yours, until someone beats you.

Getting a floor

  • Your first payment puts your startup on the tower. It starts at $2, and you don’t need an account to pay.
  • You can pay again whenever you like, from $2. Every payment adds to your total, so you climb without starting over.
  • Your floor shows your name, logo, a one-line tagline and a link to your site. It also gets its own page, where builders can review you.

Taking a crown

To take a crown, your total has to beat the holder’s total by at least $1. The checkout tells you the exact amount before you pay. If two floors end up with the same total, the one that got there first stays above.

There are three kinds of crown, and one startup can hold all of them at once:

  • The all-time crown counts everything a startup has ever paid. It sits on the roof of the tower.
  • Today’s crown counts only what was paid since 00:00 UTC. It resets every midnight UTC, so there’s a fresh fight every day and a small budget can still win.
  • Category crowns use the same rules inside one category, such as AI or Dev Tools. Each startup is in one category, picked when it claims its floor.

Free floors

Two kinds of floor are free, and both count as $0:

  • Held by the house floors are our own placeholders, labelled as such. They mark space that’s for sale.
  • Founding floors were given free to early companies, with their permission, to open the tower.

Free floors never set the price to beat and never hold a crown. Any paid floor ranks above all of them, so while the crown is unclaimed, $2 takes it.

What’s paid and what isn’t

  • Every floor that has paid is labelled Paid placement in the floor list and on its page, and the tower shows how much it paid. Links to paid floors are marked as sponsored for search engines.
  • Money buys position on the tower and nothing else. It never changes community rankings, votes or reviews, and reviews can’t be bought.
  • Clicks are public. Every floor shows its clicks this hour and in total. Known bots are left out, and repeat clicks from the same visitor within 10 minutes count once.
  • The 3D tower draws the top 40 floors. Every floor, however low, is in the list under it.

Refunds and removals

Payments for floors are final once your floor is up, with the exceptions on the refund page. If a payment is refunded or charged back, it comes off your total, and you can lose your floor or crown.

You may only list a site you own or are allowed to represent, and it has to show who runs it. We remove floors that break the terms, such as scams, malware, adult content, gambling, impersonation or anything illegal, and those payments aren’t refunded.

If the rules change

We may change the minimums or add new crowns. Changes apply to payments made after we post them here, and the totals you’ve already paid stay counted.
